Some of the major artefacts besides the buildings of Pompeii itself include:
- Crouching man body cast – Made of plaster cast; found near southern walkway near athletics ground and was a victim who was obviously overcome by the disaster and died.
- Fountain of eagle with a serpent – Made of marble; found in a what is presumed formal garden depicting an eagle triumphing over a snake which is associated with the god Jupiter and victory.
- Guard dog cast – Made of plaster cast; found chained to guard the “House of Orpheus” and was obviously a pet of sorts to protect the house it was chained to from intruders.
- Cremation urn – Made of glass; found near the Necropolis of Nuceria Gate buried in a grave. The urn contained bones and bronze coin payments to be taken to the underworld.
- Medical instruments – Made of bronze; found in the most northern westerly region of the city used for carrying out various medical procedures and would have belonged to a surgeon.
- Decorated shield – Made of bronze and silver; found near the Quadriporticus of the Theatres, appears to be the shield of a champion in the arena who has survived as seen with the decoration and the medallion of the mythical Gorgon Medusa in the centre of the shield.
- Water pipe, spout and tap – Made of lead and bronze; found in the north western portion of the city and used to provide a house with presumably fresh and clean running water.
